Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The AR-15 rifle is one of the most enduring and versatile firearms in history, having evolved through numerous iterations and configurations since its inception. Echoing the adage, “Victory has 100 fathers and defeat is an orphan,” the AR-15 has many progenitors, including Rossignol's experimental ENT B5 (1901), Eklund’s AG-42 Ljungman (1942), and the French MAS-49 (1949), among others. However, it was Eugene Morrison Stoner’s innovative use of the direct impingement gas system that fundamentally transformed small arms design. Originally developed as the AR-10 in .308 Win., Stoner’s design was later adapted into the lighter AR-15 in .223 Rem., which saw its first use with the US Air Force in 1962 and was officially adopted as the M16 in 1963.

Stoner’s direct impingement system differed significantly from conventional gas-operated mechanisms by eliminating the need for a separate gas cylinder, gas piston, and operating rod. Instead, gases are directed straight onto the bolt and carrier, reducing weight, complexity, cost, and the frequency of part replacements. Stoner, along with Colt and the U.S. Air Force, also believed that a forward assist was unnecessary, as it added cost without providing real benefits.

Original USGI AR-15/M16 receivers were never commercially available in the U.S. due to their classification as “machineguns,” leading to a scarcity of high-quality original or replacement parts. Today, while semi-auto AR-15 receivers and parts are available from various commercial sources, their quality and fidelity to original specifications can vary significantly.

Fulton Armory offers a range of options for enthusiasts seeking an AR-15, whether as a faithful recreation of the original or a modern iteration. Their semi-automatic FAR-15 receivers and components provide choices from the straightforward utility of the Special Series to the precision of the FAR-15 Peerless. Each Fulton Armory FAR-15 is meticulously crafted from top-tier materials and assembly techniques, ensuring exceptional quality. The Fulton Armory FAR-15 is not just a firearm; it is a durable and extraordinary piece designed to be a lasting heirloom, embodying safety, durability, and excellence.

The Fulton Armory FAR-15 National Match is a precision-engineered semi-automatic rifle chambered in 5.56 NATO, designed to deliver exceptional accuracy and reliability. Finished in black anodized aluminum with a stainless steel barrel, this rifle features a 20-inch National Match stainless steel barrel with a 1/12 twist rate and an A2 flash hider, optimizing it for long-range performance. The optics and sights include a National Match (.050) post front sight and a National Match NMA2 rear sight with a .040 hooded aperture, mounted into a fixed carry handle with ¼ x ¼ adjustments, ensuring precise targeting and adjustment capabilities. The rifle's stock configuration includes a fixed A2 buttstock with a metal door assembly and a standard A2 butt plate, coupled with an A2 pistol grip and a 12-inch round A2 modified forearm designed for a float tube. This setup contributes to the rifle's robust and stable shooting platform, which is ideal for competitive shooting and precision tasks. The FAR-15 National Match's standard markings reflect its adherence to high manufacturing standards, making it a reliable choice for discerning shooters seeking both performance and durability.
