Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Tigre rifle, a Spanish adaptation of the Winchester Model 1892, was manufactured by the Eibar company Gárate, Anitua y Cía. between 1915 and 1937. Initially introduced in 1915 by Gárate and Anitua, production was disrupted by World War I, during which the company shifted its focus to supplying heavy-caliber revolvers based on Smith & Wesson designs and the 7.65x17 Ruby pistol to the Allies. Production resumed in 1923, marking the debut of the Tigre rifles. These rifles were chambered for the .44-40 Winchester cartridge (known as the .44 Largo in Spain) and featured a 22-inch barrel akin to earlier 1873/1876 carbines. Each rifle is stamped with a manufacturer's name, caliber, and an engraved tiger motif. The walnut stock, measuring 12 3/4 inches in length, was complemented by a crescent-shaped metal buttplate housing a hinged ramrod reservoir. The rifle also boasted a blade front sight and a folding adjustable tangent style rear sight resembling that of the Mauser 1893 rifle, which graduated for distances up to 1000 meters.
