Item Description
Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this scarce semi-automatic pistol today for a penny-start auction, this is the Glock 17L Gen 1!
The Glock 17 Gen 1 was introduced in 1982 and remained in production until late 1988, with the last Gen 1 pistols appearing in early 1989 as Glock transitioned to the Gen 2 frame. In 1988, Glock introduced the Glock 17L as a long-slide variant intended for competition and precision-focused shooting. It used the same Gen 1 frame and internal layout as the standard 17, but incorporated an extended slide and a 6.02-inch barrel to increase sight radius and potential accuracy. Early 17L pistols also featured a top-slide lightening cut, and some examples included a three-port barrel. Only a small group of documented serial-number prefixes—DA, DB, and ED—is associated with first-generation 17L production. Because the 17L was introduced near the end of the Gen 1 manufacturing period, these 17L Gen 1 variants are widely regarded by collectors as being quite collectible and scarce.

The Glock 17 Gen 1 was introduced in 1982 and remained in production until late 1988, with the last Gen 1 pistols appearing in early 1989 as Glock transitioned to the Gen 2 frame. The Gen 1 design featured a polymer frame, steel slide and barrel, and the Safe Action striker-fired system, along with a 17-round double-stack 9mm magazine, a smooth pebble-textured grip, and no external manual safeties. In 1988, Glock introduced the Glock 17L as a long-slide variant intended for competition and precision-focused shooting.
