Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Harrington & Richardson U.S.R.A. Model (aka the Model 195) was introduced in 1928, and is a highly regarded single-shot target pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle, designed specifically for competitive shooting. Approved by both the United States Revolver Association and the National Rifle Association, it quickly gained a reputation for precision and reliability. Approximately 3,500 units were produced before the end of its production in 1941. The Model 195 featured four major design variations, offering customization options such as different barrel lengths (7, 8, or 10 inches), adjustable sights, grooved triggers, and one-piece checkered walnut grips. Its break-open action and automatic ejector allowed for fast reloading, enhancing its appeal among serious marksmen. Notably, mechanical engineer and expert shooter Walter F. Roper played a key role in refining the pistol’s design, introducing improved rifling and ergonomics that boosted its performance. Today, the U.S.R.A. Model is prized by collectors and firearms enthusiasts alike, standing as a testament to early 20th-century American craftsmanship and innovation in competitive shooting arms.
