Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this semi-automatic military pistol for a penny-start auction; this is the Colt Model 1927 Ejercito Argentina!
The Hartford Colt 1927 “Ejercito Argentino” pistols are highly regarded today for their quality, history, and close connection to the U.S. M1911A1. These well-made, semi-automatic pistols were virtually identical to Colt’s own Model 1911A1 and were produced by Colt under a 1927 contract with the Argentine government. Under this agreement, Colt manufactured 10,000 pistols marked “Ejercito Argentino,” while also supplying technical data and production tooling that later enabled Argentina to continue licensed production at the Rosario government arsenal after World War II. This unique blend of Colt workmanship, early international collaboration, and limited production makes the 1927 contract pistols especially appealing to collectors.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Colt Model 1927 “Ejército Argentino” traces its origins to Argentina’s efforts to modernize its military sidearms in the early 20th century. Rather than immediately pursuing domestic production, the Argentine government contracted directly with Colt to supply pistols built to U.S. military M1911A1 standards. Produced in 1927 and into the early 1930s, these pistols were manufactured in Hartford and marked with “Ejército Argentino” and corresponding Argentine crest rollmarks, distinguishing them from standard U.S. military or commercial Colts. Mechanically, they remained true to the proven Colt/Browning short-recoil design, offering the same rugged reliability and .45 ACP performance that had already made the 1911 famous around the world. Collectors value the Model 1927 not only for its quality—equal to Colt’s commercial-grade production of the era—but also for its clear historical role in establishing Argentina’s later domestic M1927 and Ballester-Molina programs. These Hartford-made pistols represent the foundation of Argentina’s long association with the 1911 platform, and their limited production numbers add to their desirability. Today, surviving examples with intact crests, matching parts, and original finish are prized for their blend of Colt craftsmanship, international military history, and the transitional role they played in the eventual licensing and manufacture of the Argentine-built Sistema 1927 pistols.
