Originally founded in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1926, the company started as a supplier to various firearms manufacturers in the Connecticut Valley. From 1932 to 1945, High Standard operated in New Haven before relocating to Hamden, Connecticut, where it continued production from 1946 to 1977. In 1977, the company moved to East Hartford, Connecticut, where it remained until 1984.
