The Hudson H9 is a distinctive 9mm semi-automatic pistol produced by Hudson Manufacturing in Temple, Texas, from 2017 to 2019. Introduced at the 2017 SHOT Show, it drew attention for its unique combination of a striker-fired system with a straight-pull 1911-style trigger and an unusually low bore axis. This low bore axis was made possible by positioning the recoil spring in front of the trigger guard, improving recoil control and muzzle stability. The H9 featured a steel frame with a removable chassis system, G10 grip panels, and a 15-round capacity. Its crisp 4- to 5-pound trigger, excellent machining, and flat-shooting characteristics made it a favorite among enthusiasts. However, despite its innovative design and positive reception, Hudson Manufacturing faced financial and legal issues, ultimately ceasing operations and filing for bankruptcy in 2019. The design was later acquired by Daniel Defense, which reintroduced an updated version of the H9 in 2024.
