This is the collectible Danish Police Contract, which can be identified by the “D” serial prefix, crown over “HV” proof mark, and being in the serial number range D5001 to D16000.

Markings: Standard / The rear of the slide is stamped with a crown over “HV”. The left side of the slide is stamped “Husqvarna Vapenfabriks A.B. D11632”. The frame is also stamped with the serial number “D11632”.

In 1943, the Swedish government began providing military training to selected refugees from Norway and Denmark. The establishment of "Police units" from Norway progressed more quickly due to connections with the Norwegian exile government in London. These units were outfitted with handguns, including the Submachine gun m/37-39 and unmarked m/40 pistols. The Danish Brigade received secret training from 1944 until the spring of 1945 and was supplied with m/40 pistols taken directly from Swedish military stock. In Sweden, the brigade was issued 1,000 standard Swedish military m/40 pistols, all bearing the SS inspector stamp. These firearms accompanied the brigade during its transfer to Denmark on the night of May 4-5, 1945, and were later utilized by the Danish police. In 1944, Danish exile authorities ordered 2,000 pistols, which were delivered and marked by inspection officer Captain Sten Stenmo (SS). The serial numbers of these pistols range from 67,000 to 69,202, with some also found between 64,000 and 74,000. An additional 2,500 pistols were sold to Denmark and inspected by Swedish officials.

A total of 10,000 m/40 pistols were ordered for the police force, all marked with a "D" for Denmark in front of the serial number, ranging from D5001 to D16000. Each bears the inspection mark of a crown over "HV," which stands for "Haerens Vapenarsenal" (Army Armory). In Denmark, the m/40 pistol was designated as the Pistol m/40S.
