Item Description
Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this limited-production semi-automatic pistol today for a penny start auction; this is the AMT Automag III!
The IAI Automag III is widely regarded as a highly collectible pistol, prized for its distinctive design, powerful chamberings, and growing scarcity on the market. As production numbers were limited and surviving examples are often tightly held by enthusiasts, well-preserved Automag IIIs have become increasingly difficult to find—making them especially desirable among serious collectors and fans of unique American handguns.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The IAI Automag III is a distinctive semi-automatic handgun known for pairing Harry Sanford’s Automag lineage with the unconventional .30 Carbine cartridge—an unusual choice for a pistol but one that delivers high velocity, sharp report, and impressive muzzle flash. Built from stainless steel and configured as a single-action design, the Automag III features a 6½-inch barrel, fixed blade front sight with an adjustable rear, and grooved black synthetic grips. Its robust construction helps manage the energetic nature of the .30 Carbine round, while the 8-round magazine and reliable operating system make it both a curiosity and a capable shooter. Though originally also offered in 9mm Winchester Magnum, only early AMT-made examples used that chambering, making later .30 Carbine versions the predominant configuration.

Produced by Irwindale Arms Inc. from 1989 to 1991, before AMT reacquired the design, the Automag III represents a transitional era in the Automag family and is valued today for its uniqueness and limited production span. Its long, heavy slide and stainless finish give the pistol a sleek yet purposeful appearance, reinforcing its reputation as a firearm that straddles the line between novelty and performance. While not as iconic as the original Automag, the Automag III has earned respect among collectors and enthusiasts for its unconventional chambering, solid build quality, and place within the broader heritage of Sanford’s Automag designs.
