The Brazilian state company Indústria de Material Bélico do Brazil (IMBEL) is a Ministry of Defense quango, founded in 1975, which coordinates industrial activity related to the planning and production of war material through the transfer of technology and the financial and technical support of new military development. This IMBEL FZ SA was imported to the U.S. by Pacific Armament and is a licensed copy of the famous FN FAL Assault Rifle. The FAL was a battle rifle designed by Belgian small arms designer Dieudonne Saive and manufactured by FN Herstal from 1953 to 1988.
