Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Desert Eagle is a type of semi-automatic pistol that uses gas to operate. It is known for being able to chamber the .50 Action Express cartridge, which is the largest centerfire cartridge used by any magazine-fed, self-loading pistol. The Desert Eagle was designed and developed by Magnum Research Inc. (MRI). The pistol's design was later refined by Israel Military Industries (IMI), which also manufactured it until 1995. MRI then shifted the manufacturing contract to Saco Defense, located in Saco, Maine. However, in 1998, MRI moved the manufacturing back to IMI, which later commercialized its small arms branch under the name Israel Weapon Industries. Since December 2009, the Desert Eagle pistol has been produced in MRI's facility located in Pillager, Minnesota. In 2010, Kahr Arms acquired Magnum Research.
The Mark I was introduced in 1982 but is no longer produced, as it was discontinued in 1989. It was offered with a frame made of either steel, stainless steel, or aluminum alloy. It differs primarily in the size and shape of the safety levers and slide catch.
