Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Arcadia Machine & Tool, commonly known as AMT, was a firearms manufacturer based in Irwindale, California. The company produced various weapons that were primarily clones of existing firearms. However, these clones were made from stainless steel, which was a departure from the standard steel used for most firearms at the time. Unfortunately, AMT was one of the "Ring of Fire companies," as described by the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). These companies were notorious for their mass production of low-quality "Saturday night specials." AMT faced significant quality and reliability issues with their products, which led the company to file for bankruptcy. Eventually, Irwindale Arms Incorporated (IAI) acquired the assets and trademark of AMT. Later, in 1998, Galena Industries of Sturgis, South Dakota, purchased the company and continued to produce firearms in the style of AMTs until 2001. Finally, Crusader Gun Company (later High Standard Manufacturing Company) of Houston, Texas, purchased AMT.
The AMT Skipper was a stainless steel replica of the .45 ACP Colt Combat Commander manufactured by Arcadia Machine and Tool.
