From a New England collection comes this serviceable Iver Johnson Revolver, model 55SA, chambered in .32 S&W Long caliber. Manufacturer was Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works of Fitchburg, MA. From its B prefix serial number, it was manufactured in 1961 or 1962. Beginning in 1963, prefixes were G letter until its discontinuance in 1974. Construction is entirely steel metal, with original composite brown grip panels. Type is side loading double and single action pocket revolver, with hammer nose ignition and transfer bar internal safety device. Barrel is 2 1/2 inch six groove right hand 1:16 rifling. Sights are welded blade front, with frame integral fixed notch rear. Trigger is .350 serrated face, with .400 wide serrated spur hammer. Cylinder holds 5 rounds of .32 Smith & Wesson or .32 S&W Long ammunition interchangeably. Weight empty is 23 ounces, with center of gravity at the rear cylinder face. Overall length is 7 inches, height is 4 3/8 inches, and cylinder thickness is 1.31 inches.
