The IWI Tavor TS12, introduced to the U.S. commercial market in 2019, represents Israel Weapon Industries’ push to modernize the defensive shotgun category through the same bullpup engineering philosophy used in the Tavor SAR and X95 rifle families. Designed from the outset as a compact, high-capacity semi-automatic platform, the TS12 was developed to give civilian shooters, law-enforcement units, and security teams a more maneuverable 12-gauge option without sacrificing firepower. Drawing on decades of IWI experience with combat-proven gas-piston systems, the TS12 uses a short-stroke, two-position adjustable gas regulator and a reinforced polymer bullpup chassis, allowing an 18.5" barrel to fit into an extremely short 28.34" overall length. Its debut marked one of the most significant departures from traditional shotgun layouts in years, combining military-influenced durability with an innovative magazine architecture. What sets the TS12 apart is its triple-tube, rotating magazine system, which provides an impressive 15+1 capacity with 2¾" shells and automatically chambers the next round when the user rotates a loaded tube into position. This system, along with fully ambidextrous loading and operation, gives the TS12 exceptional adaptability for home defense, competition, range use, and tactical environments. M-LOK sections, multiple QD sling points, and a full-length Picatinny top rail support modern accessory integration, while compatibility with Benelli/Beretta choke tubes enhances its versatility across ammunition types and shooting roles. Still in production today, the TS12 continues to draw attention for its unconventional engineering and blend of compactness, capacity, and reliability—characteristics that make it a standout among contemporary semi-automatic shotguns.
