Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Sears, Roebuck & Company sold a range of sporting goods and recreational equipment under the brand name "J. C. Higgins" from 1908 until 1962. These included bicycles, golf clubs, rifles, shotguns, and revolvers that were well-made and popular with the company's core rural and working-class consumers. Like many other Sears products, the firearms sold under the Sears brand were originally manufactured by major firearm companies. The High Standard Arms produced the Model 20 and the Model 88 revolver.
The J.C. Higgins brand was later replaced by the Ted Williams brand. However, many of the more durable J.C. Higgins products are still available as second-hand items. The brand was named after John Higgins, a Sears employee who worked for the company for his entire career and was Vice President for a period. He was born in Ireland and moved to the United States in his late teens and began working for Sears in 1898. Although he had no middle name, Sears Co. presented the idea of labeling their sporting goods line with his name and saw it more presentable labeling the brand as J.C. Higgins. Higgins retired as head bookkeeper in 1930 and died in 1950. It is unknown whether he had expertise in sporting goods or sports.
The J.C. Higgins/Sears, Roebuck & Company Model 41 is a single-shot bolt-action rimfire rifle that uses .22 Short, Long and Long Rifle cartridges, which are quite affordable. This Model 41 features a 22-inch barrel, a blade front sight, and a square notch rear sight, a classic blue finish. The smooth wood stock makes it easy to handle, making it perfect for teaching youngsters how to shoot, hunt, or just getting in some practice.
Return Policy:
We gladly offer a 3 day unfired inspection policy from the time that the firearm is delivered to your FFL. Refunds are available for all qualifying orders.
