Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Stevens Favorite rifles are a celebrated series of American single-shot rimfire rifles first introduced by J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. in 1889 and produced in a wide range and various forms into the mid-1930s, with total production numbering around a million examples. The Favorites employed a lever-operated pivoting block action (a variation of the falling-block design) that was simple, reliable, and lightweight, making them ideal for small-game hunting, plinking, and general use by shooters of all ages. The line included multiple versions and configurations over its run, with early models evolving through numerous internal improvements and style variations before the introduction of the Model 1915, which featured improved features such as a heavier frame and a coil-type mainspring. Chamberings commonly included popular rimfire calibers such as .22 Long Rifle, .25 Stevens, and .32 rimfire, and takedown construction made the rifles easy to transport and maintain. Despite being designed over a century ago, the Stevens Favorite rifles remain one of the most recognizable and enduring examples of classic American rimfire rifle design.
