Between 1965 and 1971, a total of 12 Kansas Colt Frontier Scouts were produced. Each gun was initially offered individually, and once a series was completed, Colt grouped the four guns from that series into a single, complete cased set. The Fort series, released from 1969 to 1971, includes the Fort Scott (1971), Fort Riley (1970), Fort Hays (1970), and Fort Larned (1969). The legends of each fort are engraved on the left side of the barrel, with Colt’s iconic markings and the pony in a circle stamped on the top and right side of the barrel. These pistols feature a mix of blue and nickel finishes, with one cylinder left unfluted for added uniqueness. The grips are made of faux ivory, faux pearl, and black eagle materials. Each set comes in a special wooden display case, marked with the Kansas Series Forts logo on the lid. This limited edition set is numbered to 500, with each gun in the collection numbered “37” along with a suffix corresponding to its assigned fort.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
In 1956, Colt resurrected their legendary Single-Action Army revolver after a 15-year break. This second release of the iconic firearm came with a premium price tag of around $125, which, when adjusted for inflation, is roughly equivalent to $1215 today. The 1940s and 1950s were a golden era for Western films, which played a crucial role in shaping American pop culture and rekindling the public’s love for the Wild West. Fathers, many of whom had longed to live out their cowboy fantasies, were eager to pass this passion onto their sons, and Colt's revival of the Single-Action Army gave them the perfect opportunity to do so. In 1957, Colt introduced the Frontier Scout, a smaller and lighter version of its larger bore counterpart, making it more accessible for younger or less experienced shooters. Just a few years later, in 1960, Colt expanded the Frontier Scout lineup to include .22 WMR models. Over its production run, the Colt Frontier Scout achieved a total of around 358,000 units, including various iterations, before being discontinued in 1970 when Colt shifted focus to the Peacemaker 22 and the “New Frontier Scout.”

Between 1965 and 1971, Colt produced a total of 12 Kansas Colt Frontier Scouts. Initially, these pistols were sold individually, but once a series was completed, Colt packaged all four guns from that series into a complete cased set. The Fort series, which ran from 1969 to 1971, featured four distinct models: the Fort Scott (1971), Fort Riley (1970), Fort Hays (1970), and Fort Larned (1969). Each of these guns bore the engraved legends of the respective fort on the left side of the barrel, with Colt's classic markings and the pony in a circle stamp featured on the top and right side of the barrel. These Frontier Scouts were produced with a combination of blue and nickel finishes, with one cylinder being left unfluted, adding a unique touch to the set. The pistols also featured grips made from materials like faux ivory, faux pearl, and black eagle, contributing to their distinctive look and feel.

The limited edition Kansas Colt Frontier Scout set was a true collector's item, with only 500 sets produced. Each individual gun in this set was numbered "37," in addition to a suffix corresponding to its assigned fort, making each piece in the collection unique. The pistols were housed in a specially designed wooden display case, which was marked with the Kansas Series Forts logo on the lid. Inside, the case was designed to house the four guns, and it featured a map of Kansas with the locations of the forts branded into the lid, making this set not just a display of craftsmanship but also a tribute to American history. With its unique mix of Colt's craftsmanship and the historical significance of the Kansas forts, the Kansas Colt Frontier Scout set remains a prized possession for collectors and firearm enthusiasts alike.
