Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Kel-Tec PF-9 is a semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9 mm caliber. It operates using recoil and has a locked breech, double-action-only mechanism. The design of PF-9 is based on Kel-Tec's earlier models, P-11 and P-3AT, and shares many of their parts. Kel-Tec claims that PF-9 is the lightest and flattest 9 mm pistol that has ever been mass-produced. It was designed to be used as a concealed carry or backup weapon for law enforcement personnel and civilians. Kel-Tec announced the release of PF-9 on February 9, 2006, and it entered the market in the fall of the same year. However, after the introduction of the P15, the production of PF9 was discontinued.
The Kel-Tec PF-9 is a popular pistol manufactured in Cocoa, Florida. It's built using advanced computer numerical control (CNC) manufacturing techniques and consists of six main components, namely the barrel, slide, frame, grip, trigger group, and magazine. The barrel and slide are made of SAE/AISI 4140 steel that's been hardened to plate number 48 RHC. The trigger group is machined from a solid billet of 7075-T56 aluminum and has a transfer bar system that connects the hammer and trigger. The pistol boasts a firing pin block safety that prevents accidental discharge if it's dropped, while the long double-action-only trigger pull adds an extra layer of safety. Additionally, the slide hold-open feature locks the slide in place after the last round is fired. The frame is made of high-strength DuPont ST-8018 polymer and houses the 7-round, single-column magazine made of steel. The sights are windage-adjustable and consist of a fixed front blade and a notched rear sight with three white dots that highlight it for visibility in low-light conditions. Lastly, the PF-9 has an accessory rail that can be used to mount lights and lasers.
The PF-9 handgun is a blend of Kel-Tec's P-11 and P-3AT models, utilizing many of their original parts. It features a modified barrel, trigger, ejector, and front sight from the P-11, along with the extractor and various springs from the P-3AT. The PF-9 offers options for the grip color and slide finish, including blued, Parkerized, ceramic (Cerakote), and hard chromed finishes.
