Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Kimber M82 is a bolt-action .22 caliber rifle developed by Kimber of Oregon. While bolt-action .22 rifles were once commonplace in the United States, by the late 20th century, American manufacturers of such rifles had dwindled significantly. In response to this gap, Kimber was established in 1979, initially to produce the Kimber M82 Government rifle, designed specifically for the U.S. military. The M82 was created to fulfill a critical need for a high-accuracy, low-cost training rifle for military marksmanship programs. In the 1980s, the U.S. Army selected the Kimber M82 to replace older, less accurate training rifles used in marksmanship courses. In the late 1980s, Kimber produced over 20,000 M82 rifles to fulfill this contract. Although originally intended for military training, the Kimber M82's reputation for accuracy quickly garnered attention among civilian shooters.

The rifle is now available through the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), a government organization that promotes firearms training and marksmanship to the public. With its unmatched precision, the M82 is considered one of the most accurate rimfire rifles ever made and remains a highly regarded sporting rifle to this day.
