A early production Kimber "Classic Model Custom .45 ACP", this pistol is rollmarked "Clackamas, Oregon" on the frame. Only the first 7000 or so pistols had the Clackamas marking before it was changed to "Yonkers". Serial numbering of the Kimber .45's began at K001001...this is serial number K006584.

The Kimber Custom is an M1911 style semi-automatic pistol. Kimber pistols, including the very early models marked "Clackamas, Oregon", have all been manufactured in the Yonkers, NY plant.
The Custom is made in a variety of styles with different features and finishes. As an M1911 style pistol, it is usually chambered in .45 ACP. It also has been produced in other calibers, including .40 S&W, 10mm Auto, 9mm Luger, and .38 Super. Prior to the 1998 production year, the "Classic" model pistols were alternately roll-scrolled "Classic", "Classic Custom" or "Custom Classic". During 1997-98, the "Classic" moniker was dropped from Kimber pistol nomenclature as a specific model.
The Classic Custom is a full-sized model 1911, with a five-inch barrel. The frame and slide are made of steel. The Custom utilizes a single full-length guide rod, necessitating the serrations on the front of the slide for press checks. Although the Custom is considered Kimber's base model, it has a number of features that were formerly found only on customized model 1911s, such as a lowered ejection port, custom trigger, extended thumb safety, and beavertail grip safety.
