Markings: Standard / Both sides of the receiver is engraved with scroll artwork and stamped "F. JAGER & Co. SUHL I/TH.". The front of the receiver on the bottom is stamped “HEROLD/EINGTR.SCHUTZMARKE” and the rear of the receiver right in front of the trigger guard is stamped “Simson Jager Verschluss/Jager's-Patent”. The barrel rib is stamped “EMIL/RXLOM”. The barrels on the top is stamped “KRUPPSCHE/FLUSSTAHL”.

For over 150 years, Drillings have been the classic hunting gun of many European countries, especially Germany and Austria. Because a single hunting trip might require shooting both wildfowl and animals (often times within several hours), Europeans have long favored a single long-arm that could afford both rifle and shotgun shooting, be reliable, and not wear the hunter out while transporting it in the field. Another big reason the Europeans like the Drilling is that in recent years, ownership of firearms has become severely regulated and limited, thus making a versatile single firearm like the Drilling more desirable.
