Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Lefever Arms Grade G shotgun, is a fine example of early 20th-century American firearm craftsmanship, produced in 1902 during the prime years of Lefever's operations in Syracuse, New York. This 12-gauge side-by-side shotgun features 30-inch Damascus steel barrels, prized for their distinctive patterning and period authenticity. Both barrels are choked full, making this model particularly well-suited for waterfowl or long-range upland game hunting. The barrels are fitted with extractors—a common feature on Grade G models—that lift spent shells from the chambers for manual removal, offering simplicity and reliability in the field. Topping off the barrels is a gold bead front sight, providing a clean and classic sight picture for fast target acquisition.

The receiver is finished in color case hardening, a traditional method that not only adds a unique, iridescent finish but also enhances the steel’s surface hardness. The Grade G was known for its solid construction and was the most popular offering in the Lefever lineup, blending performance with affordability. This particular shotgun is outfitted with a checkered walnut pistol grip stock and forearm, offering both aesthetic appeal and secure handling. The stock's checkering adds traction for better control, while the wood’s rich grain complements the warm tones of the case-hardened frame and the swirl of the Damascus barrels. Overall, this Lefever Grade G represents a working-class gun with upscale touches, designed for the discerning sportsman of the early 1900s—and it remains a functional and collectible piece of American firearms history today.
