Markings: Standard / The silver escutcheons on the top of the wrist are stamped “JC” in gothic style script. The top of the barrel is stamped “FNI P LEPAGE MOUTIER A PARIS” (Finished by LePage Montier of Paris). The top of the tang on one pistol is stamped “1” while the other one is stamped “2”. The lockplates, trigger guards, forend tips, and upper tangs are engraved with scroll/border artwork.

Marked "FNI P LEPAGE MOUTIER A PARIS" on the barrels, the pistols were finished by the esteemed Parisian gunmaker LePage Moutier, who was active from the 1840s through the 1860s and renowned for crafting finely detailed percussion target and dueling pistols. Hallmarks of his work—such as the pairing of pistols numbered “1” and “2” on the upper tangs, rifled barrels with dovetailed blade front sights, and French gray finish—are all present on these pistols.
