The MarColMar CETME L is a remarkable resurrection of a historic military rifle, combining Cold War-era engineering with modern craftsmanship. Originally designed by CETME (Centro de Estudios Técnicos de Materiales Especiales) in Spain, the CETME L represents a unique chapter in small arms development. Unlike the HK33, which was essentially a scaled-down version of the HK G3, the CETME L was a purpose-built rifle chambered specifically for the 5.56 NATO cartridge. This distinction made it the only roller-delayed blowback rifle designed from the ground up for 5.56/.223, not retrofitted or adapted from a larger caliber platform. With its slimmer, lighter profile, the CETME L became Spain’s standard-issue rifle during the 1980s and 1990s, even seeing combat during Operation Desert Storm alongside coalition forces.
