The Marlin Model 336 Zane Grey Century Rifle was introduced in 1972 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Zane Grey's birth, and it was intended as a limited-edition special release. Though Marlin initially planned to produce 10,000 units, only approximately 7,871 rifles were actually manufactured. Each rifle carries a brass medallion depicting Zane Grey’s bust inlaid on the receiver, along with a polished brass crescent buttplate and forend cap—making it visually distinct from standard Model 336 production.
