Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Marlin Model 81-DL is a bolt-action .22 rimfire rifle first introduced in 1941 and was manufactured up until the start of WWII, and then resumed in 1945, continuing until 1964. The “DL” (Deluxe) designation refers to its upgraded features: a receiver-mounted aperture (peep) rear sight, a hooded front bead sight, factory sling swivels, and a walnut stock (later examples shifted to a Monte Carlo-style comb). The rifle has a 24-inch barrel and feeds from a tubular magazine chambered for .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle. Rifling evolved over its production life: early barrels used Ballard rifling, and by 1953, Marlin began introducing its Micro-groove rifling. Today, the Marlin Model 81-DL is prized for its smooth bolt action, reliable accuracy, and solid mid-20th-century craftsmanship.
