Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Marlin Model 90 is a distinguished 16-gauge over-under shotgun known for its craftsmanship and reliability. With a blue finish and 28-inch barrels fitted with fixed full chokes, this shotgun is designed for optimal performance in various shooting scenarios, from clay target games to upland bird hunting. The gold bead front sight enhances target acquisition, making it easier for shooters to focus on their aim. The shotgun features a break-action design, allowing for quick and easy loading and unloading, which is a hallmark of practical shotgun functionality. The checkered walnut stock not only provides a touch of elegance but also ensures a secure grip, contributing to overall shooting comfort. Interestingly, the Model 90 also served as the basis for the J.C. Higgins Model 103.350, a variant sold by Sears, Roebuck & Company from 1908 to 1962 under the popular J.C. Higgins brand. These products, including firearms, were well-regarded for their quality and catered primarily to rural and working-class consumers. Marlin Firearms, with a rich history of producing semi-automatic and lever-action rifles, once manufactured a variety of shotguns, including the Model 90. Over the years, Marlin underwent several ownership changes, eventually becoming part of the Remington Outdoor Company, and later being acquired by Sturm, Ruger & Co. in 2020. The Model 90 remains a classic example of Marlin’s legacy in the shotgun market, cherished by collectors and enthusiasts for its blend of tradition and craftsmanship.
