Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Manufactured from 1898 to 1905, this model was Marlin’s first commercially sold shotgun. Marlin manufactured an estimated 55,000 of these shotguns during their seven years of production. These Model 1898 shotguns featured exposed hammers, takedown frames and receivers which look similar to the larger caliber lever action rifles of Marlin. Marlin also produced these guns under the "National Fire Arms Co" name.
