Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Mauser WTP "vest pocket pistol" (officially cased W.T.P.) is a German pocket pistol. The WTP was designed from 1921 to 1923 and introduced around that time to meet the demand for pocket pistols chambered for .25 ACP in Germany. Competitors to the WTP included the FN Baby Browning and the Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket. The first version of the pistol was known as the WTP I and produced from approximately 1921 to about 1938, at which point it was replaced by a newer, shorter model known as the WTP II; production ended in 1939. The WTP is a simple blowback pistol with some interesting design features; the weapon has a pivoting extractor, which is essentially a piece of spring steel with the rear of the extractor locking a button on the rear of the slide. The weapon has an internal safety preventing the weapon from firing with the magazine removed.
