Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
N.R. Davis & Sons was among the first American manufacturers to produce breech-loading double barrel shotguns. Around the time of World War I, the company was taken over by Warner Arms Corp., which relocated the assets from the original Assonet, Massachusetts factory to their facility in Norwich, Connecticut in 1919, forming the Davis-Warner Arms Corp. Davis double barrel shotguns continued to be produced until around 1926, when the Norwich plant was shut down and the company shifted its focus to importing firearms from Belgium. In early 1930, Davis-Warner was acquired by the J. Stevens Arms Company, a subsidiary of Savage Arms Corp. A Stevens memo dated May 23, 1930, announced the acquisition along with plans to resume production of Davis double barrel shotguns. Later that year, on December 15, another Stevens memo revealed the purchase of Crescent Fire Arms Company's assets from H&D Folsom Arms Company. It was also announced that Crescent's assets would be merged with those of Davis-Warner to form the Crescent-Davis Arms Corporation, based in Norwich, Connecticut.

This new company was intended to operate as a competitor to J. Stevens, but it proved no more successful than its predecessors. On November 4, 1935, an order of dissolution was filed with the New York Secretary of State. After that, any remaining assets were likely moved to Chicopee Falls, and the remaining firearms were assembled and sold under various brand names.
