The Mossberg Model 183 is a bolt-action 410 bore shotgun that was produced by O.F. Mossberg & Sons, valued for its rugged simplicity and versatility. The original 183D series introduced the design with a one-piece pistol-grip stock and externally threaded choke tubes supplied with a wrench. Successive refinements appeared in the subvariants: the D-A added a left-hand extractor, the D-B revised the firing-pin design, the D-C introduced an ejector interrupter, the D-D further improved the ejector system, the D-E featured a slimmer barrel, while the D-F and D-G brought updates to the trigger, safety, barrel, and front sight. Mossberg later expanded the line with the 183K series, which replaced threaded choke tubes with the adjustable C-Lect-Choke, mounted on a longer barrel and paired with a Monte Carlo-style stock.
