The Pre-ban Polytech AK's are considered by shooters and collectors alike as one of the finest AK's ever produced for the commercial market in the United States from any country. These Chinese Polytechs were manufactured from 1985 until the U.S. importation ban of 1989. They were made in two different Poytech-owned factories in China denoted by either a "Triangle 416" or an "Oval 386." The vast majority of 1985 to mid-1987 production guns were imported by Sile in New York, with Keng's in Atlanta, Ga. taking over the importing between mid-1987 until the U.S. importation ban of 1989. The Polytech AKS-762 was imported in several configurations during the production run, with all of them displaying a beautiful commercial-quality blue finish and excellent fit and finish. Polytech quickly earned a reputation for building the top-quality AK's that was not only beautiful to look at, but are extremely reliable and more accurate than many of their competitors.
