Item Description

Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this classic semi-automatic shotgun for a penny-start auction; this is the Remington Model 1100 Field!

This example comes equipped with a highly desirable Hastings Paradox barrel, manufactured by Verney-Carron—France’s oldest and largest hunting gun maker and the historic producer of all Hastings barrels. Considered one of the premier off-the-shelf rifled shotgun barrels ever offered, the Paradox design features six lands and grooves with a 1:34" twist in 12 gauge, delivering exceptional slug stability and impressive accuracy. While Hastings Paradox barrels were produced for several popular models, including the Remington 870, 11-87, and Browning A5, this specific barrel is the sought-after version made for the Remington 1100 in 12 gauge. Known for their outstanding performance and now increasingly hard to find, these barrels are prized upgrades among slug hunters and collectors alike.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Remington Model 1100 Field is a classic semi-automatic shotgun celebrated for its smooth gas-operated action, soft recoil, and long-standing reputation for reliability in the field. Chambered for 2¾" shells and fitted with a 28" ventilated rib barrel with a modified choke, it delivers an excellent balance of handling, pattern consistency, and shootability—qualities that have made the 1100 series a favorite among upland hunters, clay shooters, and sporting enthusiasts for decades. Its blued finish and fleur-de-lis checkered walnut furniture give it the traditional look expected of a premium field gun, while its ergonomics and proven cycling system offer modern performance that still holds up today.

What elevates this particular example is the inclusion of a highly desirable Hastings Paradox barrel manufactured by Verney-Carron, France’s oldest and largest hunting-gun maker, and the longtime producer of all Hastings barrels. Revered as one of the finest off-the-shelf rifled shotgun barrels ever made, the Paradox features six lands and grooves with a 1:34" twist in 12 gauge, producing exceptional slug stability and impressive real-world accuracy. Although these barrels were made for several popular shotguns, the version fitted to the Remington 1100 is especially sought after due to its performance, scarcity, and value among slug hunters and collectors. With this upgrade, the shotgun gains true dual-purpose versatility—capable of both traditional bird hunting with the factory barrel and precision slug work with the Paradox—making this a particularly appealing and well-rounded Remington 1100 Field package.
