Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Remington Model 513-T “Matchmaster” is a distinguished bolt-action .22 LR target rifle produced from 1940 to 1968. Designed for precision shooting, it features a 27-inch heavy barrel, Redfield aperture rear sight, and a globe front sight. The American walnut stock includes a wide beavertail forend and sling swivels, enhancing stability and comfort during use. Weighing approximately 9 pounds, the 513-T is equipped with a six-round detachable magazine and an adjustable Matchmaster trigger, allowing for fine-tuned control. Many rifles were adopted by U.S. military and ROTC units during World War II and the Korean War for training purposes, with numerous examples stamped “U.S. PROPERTY.” A total of about 137,302 units were manufactured, including roughly 62,000 for military use. While not as premium as Remington’s Model 37 Rangemaster, the 513-T delivered excellent accuracy at a more accessible price, making it popular among competitive shooters of its era. Today, well-preserved examples of the 513-T “Matchmaster” remain highly regarded for their precision, durability, and classic craftsmanship.
