Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Remington Model 513 Matchmaster is a bolt-action rifle that was manufactured from 1940 to 1968. It was designed for target shooting and came equipped with a sturdy half stock with sling swivels, a beavertail fore-end, and a straight comb that rose at the heel. Matchmaster barrels were 27" heavy target semi-floating types. The patented Matchmaster trigger mechanism had an adjustable stop. The Matchmaster was designed to fire only the .22-caliber Long Rifle cartridge from a detachable magazine. The civilian versions of the Matchmaster had a blued finish, while those made for U.S. Army and ROTC service could have either a blued or a parkerized finish. A letter code is typically stamped on the left side of the barrel, close to the receiver, on the rifle. The two letters in the middle of the code usually represent the month and year in which the rifle was produced. The first and fourth letters are often inspectors' stamps. The rifle's serial number is usually stamped on the underside of the barrel, just in front of the stock.
The Model 513T rifles were originally designed as target models. They came equipped with Redfield aperture sights, a 27-inch heavy barrel, a six-shot magazine, and 1.25-inch sling swivels. The target stock was made of American Walnut. The "T" suffix in the model name indicates that the rifle was a target model that was originally equipped with target sights.
