The Remington 40XBR is a single-shot, bolt-action precision rifle produced by Remington’s Custom Shop as a specialized offshoot of the 40-X/40-XB target rifle family. Developed for formal benchrest shooting, the 40XBR was built around a refined Remington 700-type action manufactured to tighter tolerances than standard production rifles. These rifles typically feature a heavy, match-grade barrel, a crisp competition-oriented trigger, and a rigid stock designed for benchrest competition. Over its production life, the 40XBR was offered in a variety of accuracy-focused cartridges commonly used in target and benchrest disciplines, such as .222 Remington and several BR-class chamberings.
