Bryant Ridge Co. is pleased to present this powerful semi-automatic rifle for a penny-start auction; this is the Ruger 99/44 Deerfield Carbine!
The Deerfield Carbine is a rarer counterpart to iconic Ruger models like the M77, M44, and 10/22. Produced only from 2000 to 2006, the Ruger 99/44 Deerfield Carbine is a limited-run firearm, with our specific example being manufactured in 2001—making it a second-year production model! This adds a layer of collectibility and uniqueness to an already sought-after rifle.

Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Deerfield Carbine, also known as the Ruger Model 99/44, is a semi-automatic rifle chambered in .44 Magnum, produced by Sturm, Ruger & Co. It was introduced in 2000 and remained in production until 2006. The Deerfield was designed to replace the older Ruger Model 44 Deerstalker rifle, which had been in production since 1961 but was discontinued in 1985 due to high production costs. While both rifles shared a similar caliber, the Deerfield represented a significant departure from the Model 44, featuring a completely new design with modern manufacturing considerations.

Unlike the Model 44, which had a solid-topped receiver, the Deerfield Carbine employed an open-top receiver design more akin to the M1 carbine, offering a stronger, more cost-effective build. Additionally, the Deerfield utilized a rotary magazine, similar to the one found on Ruger’s popular .22 LR 10/22 rifle, whereas the Model 44 was fed via a fixed, 4-shot tubular magazine. This modernized design made the Deerfield more user-friendly and reliable, catering to a new generation of shooters while keeping the classic .44 Magnum chambering for hunting and recreational use. Despite its innovative features and initial popularity, the Deerfield Carbine was eventually discontinued after a brief production run, making it a unique and collectible piece in Ruger’s history.
