The Savage 12 Varmint Low-Profile Bolt-Action Rifle is specifically designed to deliver precise shot placement on predators, varmints, and other small targets at long range. The Varmint Low-Profile Rifle comes with a laminate wood stock, featuring dual pillars, an extra wide beavertail fore-end, and a low-profile comb. The heavy-contour, stainless steel barrel is fluted and free-floated for optimum accuracy potential. The basic bolt design assures that the locking lugs fully contact the receiver, holding the headspace to a minimum every time the bolt is locked. The tight headspace contributes to the excellent accuracy Savage rifles are known for. The bolt operates with a push-feed design, utilizing a sliding-plate extractor and a spring-loaded plunger-type ejector. A 3-position receiver tang safety is easy to reach with the shooter's thumb, and allows the rifle to be loaded and unloaded in the safe position. The Savage 12 Varmint Low-Profile Bolt-Action Rifle comes drilled and tapped for scope bases.
