Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Initially introduced by Stevens Arms as the Model 22-410 in 1938, this iconic combination gun gained notable popularity during World War II, where approximately 15,000 units were procured by the United States Army Air Corps for survival use. In 1950, as Stevens ceased production of the 22-410, Savage transitioned and reintroduced the model as the Savage Model 24. This model, like its predecessors, was lauded for its versatility and practicality in the field. Weighing around 7 pounds and boasting a length of 41 inches, it was designed to be disassembled easily for storage, a crucial feature for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts looking for convenience in transportation. The smooth hardwood stock and blade front with folding leaf rear sight enhance its ergonomic design and function, contributing to an improved shooting experience. The Model 24 underwent several iterations over the years, accommodating an array of rifle calibers, including the .22 LR, .22 WMR, and .30-30 WCF, alongside various shotgun specifications. This adaptability speaks to the model's enduring appeal, allowing it to cater to a wide spectrum of use cases, whether for sport shooting, hunting, or survival scenarios. The Model 24 was completed with a simple one-trigger mechanism and an exposed hammer, reflecting the straightforward design principles upon which Savage built its reputation. Ultimately discontinued in 2010, the Savage Model 24V - Series D remains a beloved piece among shooting enthusiasts, celebrated for its combination of reliability, versatility, and historical significance in American firearms culture.
