Savage Arms Incorporated acquired the majority of the assets of Savage Industries Incorporated November 1,1989. The new management cleaned house of those slower selling and/or unpopular firearms in an effort to increase profitability. The Models 69 were some of the first to go. The closest shotgun to a Model 69R is a Stevens Model 69RXL. This shotgun is a matte finished riot (law enforcement) version of the Stevens Model 67 and was sometime in the period 1967-1989.
