A rifle that American Sportman have craved for years - embodying many features hereto found only in expensive, imported rifles. The bolt is completely housed in against dirt, snow, etc. The ignition is exceptionally rapid, the firing pin having only 3/8" stroke. Another feature is the hunter's ability to insert a fresh magazine while the bolt is closed and the loaded cartridge is in the chamber. The .22 Hornet cartridge is one of the most accurate small bore, high speed cartridge developed. It is ideal for target shooting or for small and medium game. For use in the Savage Model 23-D and Model 19.
The Savage Model 23-D features the high-speed lock, 5-shot detachable magazine, hi-power smokeless steel 25" barrel, "new designed" large size one-piece pistol grip walnut stock of selected walnut, rubbed varnish finish, flat top, adjustable sporting rear and gold bead front sight. The speed of the lock is less than 2-100 of a second. This speed eliminated shifts in the aim between the release of trigger and ignition. The trajectory is extremely flat ans a trained rifleman can make sure hits on small game and vermin up to 200 yards. The .22 Hornet will be found the most satisfactory small game, woodchuck and target rifle. With it the skill of any rifleman should be increased and more satisfactory results secured.
