Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
Stevens Arms, founded by Joshua Stevens in 1864 in Chicopee, Massachusetts, was a prominent firearms manufacturer known for producing a wide range of rifles, shotguns, and pistols. The company played a significant role in the development of sporting arms, notably introducing the .22 Long Rifle round, and by 1902 had become one of the largest producers of sporting firearms in the world. In 1915, Stevens was acquired by New England Westinghouse, and later, in 1920, by Savage Arms, which continued to produce Stevens firearms under the Savage umbrella. Production took place at the Chicopee Falls plant until 1960, after which operations were moved to other Savage facilities. Although the Stevens name was discontinued in 1991, it was revived in 1999 and is now used by Savage to produce affordable rifles and shotguns.
One of the classic models under the Stevens brand is the Stevens Model 311 - Series H, a break-action, side-by-side shotgun chambered in 12-gauge. Known for its simple, robust design, the Model 311 features 3-inch chambers and dual 30-inch blued steel barrels with bead front sights. The shotgun is equipped with double triggers, offering a traditional and reliable shooting experience. Its smooth hardwood stock and overall classic appearance make the Stevens Model 311 - Series H a popular choice for hunters seeking an affordable, durable, and functional shotgun.
