The SIG Sauer P226 ST is a rare model of the SIG P226 pistol, with a limited production run and an all-stainless frame. Compared to the standard aluminum-framed version, it is noticeably heavier, weighing in at 1,196 g (42.2 oz) with the magazine, as opposed to 964 g (34.0 oz). This extra weight is said to provide better recoil reduction and faster target acquisition for competitive shooters in the Practical Shooting community. Along with a blued barrel, it also features an M1913 Picatinny rail and was manufactured in Germany. Although prototypes were tested in 2004, it was only produced in very limited numbers and is no longer in production.
