The SIG P229 semi-automatic pistol was designed with law enforcement and security personnel in mind, based on the existing P228 series. It is ideal for concealed carry and can be quickly drawn from a holster on the wearer's body. The pistol comes in .40 S&W and has stainless steel slides (CNC machined) for its working parts and barrel. The aiming function has high contrast, allowing for quick targeting. The base version of the pistol has a double-action (DA)/single-action (SA) trigger assembly, with other options available in other SIG models, eventually being introduced to the P229. It supports .22LR, 9mm, and .357 S&W chambers. The pistol was launched in the early 1990s and has been adopted by various countries, including Bangladesh, Canada, Germany, Greece, Pakistan, Sweden, Turkey, the UK, and the US, mainly for special forces and police/security use. The pistol performs admirably in use, meeting the demands of its clientele and its strict role as a weapon.
