The Model 147A was originally called the Model 47 and was a pre-production all-steel version of the Model 59 with minor changes made to its frame. A total of 130 guns were produced to test the tooling for the newly designed all-steel Model 559. After the test run, it was decided to hand-stamp the "1" and "A" on the guns and redesignate them as Model 147A. It is said that out of the 130 guns produced, 112 of them were sold as Model 147A's. This particular gun is a beautiful example of one of those 112 guns sold.
