Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The 1950 .45 Target Model, also known as the "Pre-Model 26," is a highly regarded double-action revolver introduced in February 1950. Built on the square-butt N Target frame, it features a 6 1/2-inch ribbed, pinned barrel and is chambered in .45 ACP, with a rarer .45 Colt variant available. This model boasts a 6-shot fluted cylinder, measuring 1.55 inches in length for .45 ACP and 1.67 inches for .45 Colt. The revolver is finished in blue and is equipped with a Patridge front sight and a micrometer click rear sight, providing precision for target shooting. Its semi-target hammer and grooved trigger ensure a smooth operation, while the shrouded extractor rod maintains a uniform diameter, contributing to the overall balance and performance of the firearm.

The 1950 .45 Target Model was part of an iconic line of revolvers, with approximately 2,768 units produced between 1950 and 1961. The revolver featured checked magna-type diamond walnut stocks or smooth rosewood target stocks, all mounted on a square-butt frame. The early production models may lack the caliber marking on the barrel, a distinguishing feature of later examples. The .45 ACP version, with its tapered barrel, would eventually evolve into the Model 26, solidifying the legacy of the 1950 Target Model as a sought-after collectible. With a serial number range from S76212 to 5211000, this revolver is a unique and rare piece of firearm history, especially in the scarce .45 Colt chambering, with only 200 of those produced across several years.
