Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 27-2 is a distinguished revolver that holds a special place in the history of American firearms. As part of the iconic Model 27 series, it is chambered in the powerful .357 Magnum, a cartridge that was initially developed for this very revolver. Designed in 1935 and released to the public in 1939, the Model 27 was the first revolver purpose-built to fire the .357 Magnum round, earning it the moniker "Registered Magnum" due to its custom-order origins before being standardized for mass production. The 27-2 variant, with its 3 ½" pinned barrel, is part of the second generation of this model, produced in the 1960s and 1970s. This barrel length offers an excellent balance between accuracy and portability, making it well-suited for both field use and concealed carry, though it’s primarily a collector's item today.

Built on Smith & Wesson’s large N-frame, the Model 27-2 is constructed from carbon steel and features a striking blue finish that highlights the gun's classic, high-gloss appearance. The revolver’s craftsmanship is further complemented by genuine stag grips, which not only add a touch of elegance but also provide a secure and comfortable hold. The Model 27-2 is equipped with a serrated ramp front sight and an adjustable rear sight, which allows for precise targeting and customization to suit various shooting preferences. As a double-action/single-action revolver, it offers the flexibility of quick, multiple shots in double-action mode or the precision of a single-action pull for those who desire greater accuracy. The revolver's finely checkered top strap on both the frame and barrel is another signature feature, contributing to both its aesthetic appeal and enhanced grip. The Model 27-2 is a quintessential revolver for collectors, combining historical significance with superb functionality and craftsmanship.
