Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson Model 29 is a double-action revolver that can hold six shots and uses the .44 Magnum cartridge. This firearm was produced by Smith & Wesson, a company based in the United States. The standard models of the Smith & Wesson Model 29 come in different barrel sizes such as 3, 4, 5, 6, 6 1⁄2, 8 3⁄8, and 10 5⁄8 inches. However, other barrel lengths are available by special order from Smith & Wesson's Custom Shop or can be custom built by gunsmiths. The version with a 5-inch barrel has a full-length underlug. The Model 29 had two finish options - a highly polished blued or nickel-plated surface. When it was first introduced, it was one of the most powerful production handguns available. However, it was later surpassed by other handguns that were chambered for even larger cartridges such as the .454 Casull and .50 Action Express.
The Smith & Wesson Model 29 gained its worldwide fame by being associated with the fictional character "Dirty Harry" Callahan.
