Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson .32 Hand Ejector Third Model is a finely built double-action revolver, chambered in .32 S&W Long and produced between 1919 and 1942. Built on the round-butt I-frame with a five-screw configuration, it offered solid reliability and performance in a compact, well-balanced package. This example features a 4¼" barrel, a six-shot cylinder with a nominal length of 1.25 inches, and fixed service sights—a round blade front and a square notch rear—for straightforward accuracy in close-range applications. One of the more notable internal improvements was the addition of a new hammer block safety arm, enhancing its safe operation. Starting around serial number 321000 in 1920, heat-treated cylinders became standard, further boosting durability for higher-pressure loads.

With approximately 271,531 produced, the model shares a nearly identical external profile with the .32 Regulation Police and the Model of 1903 Fifth Change, with overlapping serial numbers between 263001 and 536684. Aesthetically, the revolver was available in blue or nickel finishes, and grips included either checkered walnut—often with a double-diamond pattern—or molded black hard rubber with S&W medallions. Barrel markings read “Smith & Wesson” on the right side and “.32 Long CTG” on the left, with many later-production examples featuring a four-line “Made in U.S.A.” address on the right side of the frame. The revolver's design, craftsmanship, and historical production span reflect Smith & Wesson’s commitment to quality and innovation in the early 20th century. Today, the Third Model remains a collectible and shootable piece of American firearms heritage.
