Bryant Ridge's Analysis:
The Smith & Wesson .32 Hand Ejector Model is a double-action revolver chambered for the .32 S&W Long cartridge. Built on the round-butt I-frame with five screws, it was offered with 3 1/4-inch, 4 1/4-inch, or 6-inch round barrels and finished in either blue or nickel. It features a six-shot cylinder with a nominal length of 1.25 inches, fixed service sights with a round blade front sight, and a smooth .240" wide trigger paired with a .240" checkered hammer spur. A notable mechanical improvement on this model was the introduction of a new hammer block safety arm. Beginning in 1920, cylinders were heat-treated starting around serial number 321000. Externally, it is virtually identical to the Model of 1903 Fifth Change and was serial numbered concurrently with the .32 Regulation Police. The serial number is typically located on the butt, rear face of the cylinder, and the underside of the barrel. A small S&W trademark is usually stamped on the left side of the frame, though some early examples were manufactured without it. Later examples in the 400,000 serial range often display the four-line "Made in U.S.A." address marking on the right side of the frame.

Grips were either checkered walnut with a diamond around the escutcheon screw—usually without the S&W monogram—or black hard rubber with the S&W monogram molded in. Barrel markings include "Smith & Wesson" on the right side and ".32 Long CTG" on the left. One example was documented in a one-piece, dark purple box with a hinged lid, bearing a Dec. 20, 1920 patent date and numbered to serial 438605. The serial number range for this model spans from approximately 263001 to 536684, with a total of about 271,531 manufactured between roughly 1919 and 1942.
